Non surgical extractions only D7140
Routine dental procedures such as tooth extractions are used to remove damaged, decayed, or problematic teeth. Dentists usually make every effort to preserve your natural teeth, sometimes a tooth extraction is necessary. The procedure can be performed in a dentist/oral surgeon’s office, and it is considered surgery. For teeth other than wisdom teeth, they may be replaced with a dental implant or another oral prosthetic.
Why would I need a tooth extraction?
The most common cause of Lakeland tooth extractions is severe cavities or tooth decay. Many patients also undergo tooth extractions for impacted teeth – mostly wisdom teeth. Other possible causes for tooth extractions include advanced gum disease, cracked teeth, and teeth that are malformed. Although many circumstances that require tooth extractions are unavoidable, some could be prevented with regular dental hygiene visits to the dentist for exams and cleanings.
Do I need a tooth extraction?
Only your Lakeland dentist, Dr. An Nguyen can tell you if you need a tooth extraction. However, you could be a candidate for a tooth extraction if one or more of your teeth are decayed so severely that a filling/other restoration is not possible for treatment.
What should I expect during my tooth extraction consultation/appointment?
If you and Dr. An Nguyen, your dentist, decide to extract one or more teeth, you will be scheduled to return for oral surgery at a later time/date. You will be given a local anesthetic to prevent pain during the procedure, and you may be prescribed pain medications to help manage pain following your extraction. If your teeth are impacted, you may also be sedated or given general anesthesia during your procedure.
